Bertram’s Neice Theresa came for a visit this week while Bertram was in NY and Calgary. It has been so wonderful having her here, she is such a delightful girl and the boys adore her. I have rarely seen someone so natural and comfortable around two toddlers in my life! Most people get overwhelmed within the first few mintues, but Theresa really understands them and plays with them so well. It has been a real pleasure having her here!
Theresa also came with some plum jelly from Germany and Eliot loved it. He had it all over his body after breakfast this morning. He ended up eating it with two spoons and both of his hands in the jar saying “More, More!”

Lucas found his favorite food today: ketchup. I served it with their lunch and he kept saying “More! More! More!” I’ve been trying to expand the boys’ food repertoire beyond yogurt, juice, and mac & cheese. Today I finally had success; my creation was greeted with sounds of “Mmmm” and “oh yum”, not the usual “No!” I made them little mini pigs-in-a-blanket. I found these great little sausages and wrapped them in a delicious pastry dough and baked them for lunch and for dinner I had success again with buttery grilled cheese, and of course ketchup.

He built it all by himself and danced around it sqealing and laughing, proud before he knocked it down.
I held Eliot while we walked through Notre Dame last night. They had just eaten their first very own ice cream cone on the island, Nougat Miel Berthillon, and while walking by we noticed there was no line to get into the church so we pushed the stroller right in. It was Sunday night and a service was underway and the chapel was packed. Eliot got a little scared and so I carried him through. He was amazed and quietly took everything in. He kept pointing at things and saying “yes” as he often does to communicate. He loved starring at the large stained glass windows and hearing the “angels” singing, and smelling the fog of insense near the altar. He was really taken by the drama of the mass and was so calm and facinated. Lucas too, he was with Bertram, they were so good, and quiet, and amazed. I think we must have stood in there for 30 minutes, it was a beautiful moment. We lit prayer candles with them on our way out.
I took them to Jardin des Plantes this afternoon and I followed them around while they pushed their strollers. They are really into walking by themselves right now and since they refuse to hold my hand, the strollers keep them under control so I can watch them better alone. It was fun, the pictures above are from there.
We do so much walking… This morning we took the boys to the playground at Jardin de Luxembourg. It was everything they have ever dreamed of. This afternoon we walked along the river and ended up at a friend’s house near Les Halles. The weather has been so great, I am so very thankful. Here are some cute pictures from today, I have more to say but my brain isn’t working very well anymore and I think I need to sleep, for a straight week
More soon, I promise I will recover and have lots to say.
