This was one of the babies’ favorite activites. Behind my Mom’s house there is this gorgeous swampy forest that I have always loved. It is magnificent and I knew knew the babies would find wonder in it. The light inside it is always breathtaking. They were little explorers and took to running up and down tiny hills they could find along the path. It was difficult to get pictures of them because they were in so much motion
It makes me happy to see them enjoying this type of activity because I have always dreamed of sharing my love of the forest with my children. I see many days spent this way in our futures!!!
Last week on our way to the airport, in the cab, I realized that we had forgotten our stroller in our car at home. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do. The babies don’t do so well in large open spaces without restraint. They run as fast as they can, laughing, in different directions, stopping only to turn around and give you a big grin, proud of how far they’ve gotten. That, with lots of rolling suitcases and security lines… well… Bertram ended up crawling around under those ropes they string everywhere to make people stand in orderly lines trying to catch them as they screamed in delight. Luckily, Bertram was in good humour. I don’t know how we made it all the way to the gate, lots of scrambling and quick action I guess.
It is Valentines day and although Bertram is away for longer than ever, it was a nice day. Hot, 80, sunny, Florida. My Mom had to work so it was just the boys and me; my tiny valentines. A funny string of events crowned the day. Luckily, I was in good spirits too. I had put diapers on the boys and pleanty of sunscreen to play in the baby pool in the backyard. They were doing lots of splashing and got soaked so I took their diapers off so they could be more comfortable, only Lucas had pooped in the meantime. I didn’t notice until it was all over him, the deck, myself… yuck. I started to clean it all up and while I was busy with that, Eliot managed to un-pot a plant, dig out half the soil, sit in it and rub it all over himself. So, I began to clean him up in the pool and when I was finished, I noticed Lucas was filling his mouth with the dirt from the pot! I took them inside, and right away, Eliot peed on the carpet! Man oh man, I was spinning in circles. All I could do was laugh. That’s twins
They both had a good bath tonight.
In a quiet moment, Eliot pointed to Lucas’ scab on his knee and said “Whasat?” I said “It’s and ouchie, where is your ouchie?” And we thoroughly examined all the scabs we have aquired since our arrival. It was a very sweet moment.
We head back home on Wednesday and it will be bitter-sweet. I am reluctant to leave this fantastic weather but excited to be back in my house and to see my wonderful husband whom I dearly miss.
Happy Valentines day!
Sorry it’s been so long, it took my brother to find the wireless connection floating around here and I just need my own computer to do anything
The babies love being here in the summer weather. It has been in the upper 70’s and sunny everyday and we have been outside all the time. Christian arrived Tuesday and we all took the babies to the zoo together on Wednesday; today we set up a baby pool for them in the backyard. They adore Christian!! Eliot called him “Unck” because we refer to him as “Uncle Christian.” So, now his name is Unck. Here are some highlights from the last few days. I have tons of cute pictures but I think I’ll have to organize them into a slideshow later.
