When the babies were first born, Ann sent me a box full of clothes she had designed for the infant/toddler boys line at Target last year. They are sized for 12 months and the boys finally fit them perfectly! It is great timing too because they are all fall/winter. They look adorable in them all. I have wanted to take pictures of the boys wearing them for her but it is so difficult to even get them dressed
I finally got some good pictures at the astroturf pier today at the river park. They look like little target clothes ads, so very cute. Eliot was much easier to take pictures of because he is walking but most of the pictures are him running away from me
Ann designed Eliot’s pants and Lucas’ jacket. Enjoy!
Here is a link to the pictures from the birthday party on September 18th:
The babies had a great time with all of their new toys! They especially enjoyed a visit from Bev and my Dad, they love having the attention of company! We are all feeling much better now. Eliot has been very talkative, it’s his new goal, talking. He constantly wants me to read him books, over and over again, he is trying to learn the words. Most of the time now he talks along with me as I read them. Lucas is learning “No.” He naturally wants to be a good boy. He started biting me a few days ago and realized that it hurt by my reaction. He broke down in tears everytime I would say ouch. Now he pretends to bite me and then shakes his head no. It is incredible. This morning he started pulling on the leaves of a plant in our living room and I told him no. He stopped and looked at the plant and shook his head and then did something else.
We are all sick. The babies had runny noses that progressed into lots of sick mess. Bertram and I got sick too altough thankfully not to the extent of the babies. They woke up this morning and basically just layed on the floor. Usually they are screaming and running around throwing toys everywhere at 6am. The day was mostly about making them comfortable and trying to keep some food down. Thank god I had Souad, they were each very needy. I put them to bed early and I hope they are able to sleep tonight.
Their first birthday is on Thursday. I feel like they have always been here. I don’t even have words to describe this year, when I think about it, it makes me dizzy. Too many things happened in one year.
I ordered them a cake from Magnolia bakery where there is a constant line of 100 people to get a cupcake. I guess it was on sex and the city or something and now there are tour busses that come drop off masses of women to wait in line for a cupcake. It baffles me, but they are good cupcakes. The bakery is in my neighborhood, right near the kids’ playground, and they make these beautiful delicious cakes to order. So, I got them a 3 layer red velvet cake with the number one written on it. I think it will be nice.
My Dad and Bev arrive Wednesday and are staying for the babes’ b-day party. It will be small and sweet and at my house. Then maybe we will parade around the village with banners and signs and horns announcing their 1st birthday because for me it celebrates the biggest accomplishment of my life so far. And they love the attention.
This week has been busy. Lucas came down with Roseola (a.k.a three day fever), a common virus in children younger than 3. Last Saturday he suddenly got a fever of about 102 and couldn’t keep his food down. That night he woke up crying and burning hot at 4am and slept the rest of the night tossing and turning in our bed. Same thing the following two nights. He was miserable. At the time I didn’t know what he had, but I did notice two emerging teeth from his bottom gums so I thought it might be a teething reaction. Wednesday morning when he woke up at 5:30 am he had a red rash all over his face and body but his fever was gone. I called the doctor about and she told me it was the Roseola virus, he just happened to be teething at the same time. Poor little guy. He was in so much pain, it was awful. He is feeling much better now but continues to wake up early.
Sunday morning we welcomed Isa and Tobias’ visit from Germany. They are here until Friday and have been sightseeing and spending time with the babies and with us. Unfortunately, they haven’t been able to see Lucas in his full glory yet because of his illness but maybe today he will show more of his charming little self.
Tuesday we visited Rockefeller Center together, it was amazing to see the city from up there, here are some pictures from it:
