Eliot and Lucas are crawling fast and everywhere, they are wrestling each other, they are both pulling themselves up to stand, Eliot really wants to walk, Lucas cut 4 top teeth in the past three days, Eliot has some teeth emerging too…chaos.  The teething has been really tough on all of us.  That’s the short story, I haven’t had much time these past few days :)   More later, for now, a video from last week… it took me until now to get it up here.

This is the way Lucas likes to suck on his pacifier.  Upside-down and half way in.  He always puts it in this way himself.  It is so funny.  The other day, I made this clicking noise with my mouth, a rather complicated one, that the boys were both very interested in, and within about an hour, Lucas was making it himself and has continued doing it ever since.

I know there seems to be a lot of Eliot on here, more of Eliot than of Lucas sometimes, I try to be equal… but, Eliot is just a constant little firecracker, he is going off all day long, and he is a ham when the camera comes out.  I try to catch Lucas in his brillant comedic moments, which are just as often, but the minute I take out the camera, he just stares at it.  He is so funny though, he has this sensitive, subtle, sweet humor to him, its harder to catch on video.  Like recently, when he is hungry, he starts smacking his lips and making loud mouth noises to himself, it is so cute.  And, he is always saying Da Da Da, or Dee, or Duh in the cutest ways, he has serious language skills :)   He gets SO happy too and his whole body tenses up and his smile reaches ear to ear and he has this darling belly laugh that won’t face a camera.  He also does this thing where he pushes his bottom two teeth into his upper gums really hard, I think to massage the area where teeth will soon be, and he makes the funniest face while he is doing it, I will miss that face when the teeth come in.  So, Eliot might be shown more but I think that’s because he wants to be.

So, here is Eliot showing his new moves, and very proud of himself.

The past few weeks the boys have been focused on figuring out how to get around.  They have taken very different routes.  Eliot mastered going from his hands and knees to sitting several weeks ago and is now crawling but not very far or very fast.  He is focused on perfecting the proper mechanics of crawling before he takes off.  In the meantime, he is also intent on standing and today he pulled himself up onto his knees by holding onto a chair.  I saw him kneeling there and was dumbfounded.  His favorite thing to do is go from sitting to standing ‘on his own’ by holding onto my hands.  He is very good at it and I barely have to help him anymore.  When he gets excited about his new abilities he yelps, screams and flexes his arm muscles.  SO cute!

Lucas isnt so concerned about how exactly crawling should look.  He, though, “crawls” far and fast and I am constantly pulling him out of the kitchen.  He crawls military style, like he is under seige and has to keep down, pulling himself forward with his forearms and pushing with his back legs.  It is very cute and he has gotten VERY good at it.  I think it will eventually evolve into a typical sort of crawling as he is rocking on his hands and knees often.

They are amazing and delightful and constantly moving forward.
