We brought home some bouncy chairs yesterday for the babies that were given to us from another twin family that we met here. Pony claimed one of them as his bed and crawled in under some padding supports that we had laying in there for the car seats. I woke up from a nap and saw him in there and it was just about the cutest thing I have ever seen. Luckily, I had the camera nearby. He was looking rather guilty, he was wondering if it was his chair to lay in. I couldn’t say no.
I saw the doctor this morning and everything is going very well. The boys are still both exactly the same size and each measure perfectly for a 30 week single pregnancy; that must be why I am so big!! The measurement of their legs corresponds to 31 weeks, so they are a few mm longer than expected. The presenting baby is head down and the other baby has turned again and is head up. I have new ultrasound images but they are impossible to read at this point because the babies are so big. The doctor was very happy with their progress and estimated the due date between the 10th and 20th of September.
I am getting very big and now must spend the majority of the day horizontally. My limitations quickly progress and I notice a big difference in my abilities from week to week. A twin pregnancy is really difficult at the end, I am sure Kim and Julie remember.
Bastille Day Fireworks show seen one block from our house near the Trcoadero. You can see the Eiffel tower in the middle of the image although it is dark. It was a beautiful fireworks display lasting 30 minutes and was pretty loud. The newspaper said they shot off 3 tons of fireworks!! The babies were jumping all over wondering what all the noise was for.
Had a doctors appoinment today, thought he was going to take all the measurements again this time via ultrasound but I guess that’s next time, on July 25th. Everything was fine today, bien fermé. I am at 28 weeks now and doing very well.
Bertram and I had a great time with Bev this weekend. She brought me all kinds of newborn necessities and we did some sale shopping at Galeries Lafayette and Printemps. The baby bed is now set up in the appartment, the new clothes washed and ready to wear, and Pony has claimed the changing table as his bed. He was really excited about the new baby toys and thought everything was for him. Bev also got to see and feel my belly moving and was amazed at how strong the movements are. It was great to have her here and I can’t wait for her and my Dads return and the stream of visitors in September and October.
Bertram is busy at work trying to manage 3 projects, get ready for a big meeting in NY in 2 weeks, prepare our move and shuffle me around to the doctor every two weeks. He has got a lot on his plate right now. I am sadly missing the wedding of one of my dearest friends next weekend in Des Moines, not to mention my cherished bridesmaid spot. Valerie will marry Ben and I will be here, thinking of them both.
I have 2 1/2 months to go and I am already this big at 27 weeks! I put an extra 5 pounds on in the last 10 days. They are growing fast! I think it’s funny that Pony is in every picture of myself that I take at home. I don’t even tell him to come, he just wants to be there. He is so funny.
Bev is coming this Friday for the weekend and bringing me all kinds of exciting baby things. I have resisted my desire to buy baby clothes and toys because I know she has me covered.
She said she is bringing me my own personal baby shower, three suitcases full! It will be a fun weekend here. The sales are going on right now and in Paris it’s a big deal because they only happen twice a year. Every store in the city has nearly everything marked 50-80% off, so you can imagine the fun… I think we’ll venture out into the crowds to see what we can find. I wont be able to make it for long though.
