We saw the Doctor this morning and things are going very well. The boys are growing; both have their heads down and we hope they stay that way. We saw them in there and their heads are right next to each other. I am at 26 weeks and the Doctor said I am the size of a single pregnancy at 7 1/2 months! I have gained 30 lbs. so far and am doing very well. The optimum due date is the 15th of September (12 weeks to go!). The next appoinment is on July 10th and he will measure everything again to check their growth progress, similar to the 20 week check up. My appointments become more frequent now, I think about once every two weeks until the last month, then once a week. I also start my “training” with the sage-femme (midwife) in a few weeks.
I’m not sure you’ll be able to tell the difference from the last photo but there is one!! I am getting bigger! You might be able to see that the top of my belly looks fuller. That is making my ribs hurt like crazy! I am also getting rounder now instead of just pushing forwards. I should have been smiling in the picture, my expression looks rather flat, but I am usually smiling
Here I am today at 23 weeks. In french they say “ça pousse!” meaning “it grows!” or something like that. I think it is a good expression to describe what is happening to my belly. It is what I always hear from people who see me often enough to notice how quickly I am growing.
Pony wanted to be a part of the scene for you all too. He is doing very well and is curious about the size of my midsection. It is no longer a place for napping and that is taking some adjustment for him.
We saw the doctor this morning and it was all good news. The boys are growing as they should be and I am doing very well also. I have gained 20 lbs so far, each baby weighing about a pound each. It is more difficult to see them in the ultrasound now because they have grown so much, you can only see parts of their bodies at a time. We also reconfirmed their boyness. They look very robust and are moving all over the place. Both of them have their heads down at this point. They are each about a foot long. Their heads are about the size of small apples and their legs are round and long like fat crayola markers. They have two seperate placentas and are in two seperate sacs, that can mean either identical or fraternal, but statisitcaly fraternal is more likely. I guess idential twin boys are the rarest kind of twins, girls are more commonly identical. The doctor said they still have room to move freely, we could see them in there kicking their legs out and moving their arms. He said he was very optimistic about the rest of the pregnancy and was very happy to see the shape I, and the boys are in at this point. It was a good visit and we feel very lucky. I asked about the due date and he thinks that September 15th is a good guess now. I am in week 23 and that would be between my 37th and 38th week so they could come even earlier and be right on time, possibly the beginning of September. I am much bigger now than my last photo so I will have to post a new one soon.
